Thai Curried Rice

  • For Masala:-
  • Coriander seeds 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Lemon grass 2
  • Cloves 4
  • Cinnamon small stick
  • Star anise 1 small piece
  • Shallot (madras onion ) 5-6
  • Whole red chilli 3-4
  • Other ingredients :-
  • Cooked basmati rice 2 cup
  • Capsicum 1/2
  • Cooked French beans Baby corn 5-6 chopped
  • Butter 3 tbsp
  • Paneer cubes(Optional) Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice 1 tbsp
  • Thick Coconut milk 1/4 cup
  • Roasted peanuts 2-3 Tbsp


This Pulao is one of the traditional Thai dish, it also known as “Massaman Curried Rice”. What is "Massaman"? It is nothing but "Musulman" that has been over the years became Massaman in Thailand. Massaman or matsaman is not a native Thai word. It is generally thought to refer to the Muslims, with earlier writers from the mid-19th century calling the dish "Mussulman curry"; Mussulman being an archaic form of the word Muslim. In Thai cuisine without coconut milk and lemongrass   the maximum dishes will not completing. This dish is very flavorful with marinated paneer, garnishing the preparation with crushed roasted peanuts. 

First grind and make a fine paste of all ingredients mentioned for masala. 
In a heavy bottomed pan heat butter, then add chopped capsicum and baby corn fry till baby corn become cook.
Then add grounded paste and salt,  fry till raw smell is went off from the mixture.
Now add coconut milk, cooked rice, Cooked beans, paneer, lemon juice combine well. 
Serve with raitha.
