Pineapple Thokku

  • Pineapple 1
  • Red chilli powder 2-3 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Mustard 1/2 Tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds powder 1/2 Tsp
  • Cumin Powder 1/2 tsp
  • Tamarind 1 small gooseberry size
  • Turmeric pinch
  • Asafetida pinch
  • Jaggery 1 Tsp


Thokku one of the famous south indain recipe, it resembles to pickle family and we can store it till year ago. Normally thokku prepares with raw tangy mangoes, gooseberry, raw tamarind, tomato etc etc..but here i used pineapple and prepared yummy very flavorfull thokku, please note the ingredients and procedure, prepare at ur kitchen and leave the feedback. 

Take pineapple (I took full ripe one) remove the skin, grate and extract the juice (Indeed i am not used juice for this recipe).

Soak tamarind with little water and extract the pulp. 

Heat oil in a kadai  add asafetida, turmeric, mustard, fenugreek powder, cumin powder and red chilli powder.

When mustard started to crackles add grated (squeezed) pineapple, tamarind pulp, salt and  jaggery combined well and keep stirring.

Once mixture started to remove oil, turn off and allow it to cool.

Thokku completely cool down store in airtight container and use when u want.
