Green Gram Kosambari

  • Green gram (Whole Moong) sprouts 1 cup
  • Grated Carrot 1 cup
  • Coconut ½ cup
  • Green chilli 1
  • Mustard ¼ Tsp
  • Urad dal ¼ Tsp
  • Oil 1 Tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves
  • Lemon juice 1 Tbsp
  • Asafetida pinch
  • Ginger small piece


Kosambari very popular in south India, specially in Karnataka. Normally its preparing in marriage and any pooja function. We can have this as a evening snacks too. If having 1 cup kosambari before meal regularly can reduce excess weight . It is very good for health. Required Ingredients and making procedure of "Green Gram Kosambari", explained here. Take a green gram wash and soak for overnight , then drain the water , transfer to air tight container , leave for 6 to 7 hours . the green gram sprouts is ready now.

Make a paste of green chilli and ginger.

Take a big mixing bowl, add moong sprouts, carrot, coconut, salt, green chili paste and lime juice to it mix well.

Heat oil, add urad dal, mustard,  curry leaves and asafetida. When mustard started to pop, switch off the flame and mix seasoning  to kosambari , mix well.
